Movember: Get Your ‘Stache On For Charity

Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.” ~ Francis of Assisi

Masters of Movember

Prostate cancer is serious stuff. So is mental health. We all, in one way or another, probably have a friend, family member or acquaintance who has suffered from one of these debilitating and, at worst, fatal afflictions.

Each year, over 3.4 million men and boys are affected by mental health issues, and more than 26 000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in Canada alone. Additionally, on average, 73 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and, of those, 11 will die from it.

In an ongoing effort to raise awareness of, and fund the research and treatment of, both prostate cancer and mental health issues, November has become ‘Movember’. As per Movember Canada:

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.
On Movember 1st, guys (register at with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valour by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.”

I’d like to thank Jaret, Dan and Nathan for volunteering their time and ‘staches in helping me create the ‘Masters of Movember’ image above. Good guys doing their part for a great charity. You guys rocked it.

Now, let’s all rock Movember and make a difference.
