It has long been a … fantasy … of mine to create the kind of images that fired my imagination as a child. As I wrote in “From Pencil and Pen to Pixels: This is Where it All Started“, I’ve been deeply immersed in the fantasy, comic book and role playing cultures for a very long time. It was conceptual fantasy art that first triggered my creative expression. It only made sense that I’d also apply it to my photography.

Until last week, there was only one active member in the PPOC accredited in Fantasy Illustration, so I’m really quite pleased that I can add this one to my curriculum vitae. It’s one of those ‘full circle’ moments that’ll linger with me for a good long time.

There is such a wealth of existing material out there to work with that I could probably keep myself busy from now until the long sleep comes. Of course, I have just as much original work inside me that’s just screaming to be released, so I’m very much looking forward to all the pretty pixels in my future. With the near-limitless number of creative cosplayers, LARPers and reenactors – even just locally – I think it’s safe to say that I’m really just getting started.

As for the formal deets, they’re below in the press release. 🙂

Cheers!

The Professional Photographers of Canada is pleased to announce that:

Jay Terry MPA LPPO , has just earned an accreditation in Fantasy Illustration, at our Accreditation judging in Langley, BC.

Accreditation is the first elevation above the general membership level, and is achieved by submitting samples of the applicant’s photography to a PPOC Board of Review for Accreditation. In assessing Accreditation Submissions, the judges will consider the following criteria: Impact, Creativity, Style, Composition, Presentation, Colour Balance, Centre of Interest, Lighting, Subject Matter, Image file quality, Technique and Story Telling.

Along with other service and print merits, a minimum of one Accreditation is required to qualify for a Craftsman of
