Charity and Cheer

Last weekend I had the pleasure of capturing commemorative portraits for the Dudes and Dads Barbershop Movember Charity Mustache Party, held at the St. Thomas Roadhouse. The principle goal of this event was to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and physical inactivity. Men and women sporting a multitude of moustaches (‘stache on a stick, anyone?) came out to support a worthy charity while enjoying party games and some great live music.

This is the first year that the event organisers, James McCallum and Gregory Dennis (pictured on the top row second from the left and second from the right, respectively), have hosted this charity fundraiser and the turnout exceeded expectations. Thanks to an enthusiastic crowd of big-hearted party-goers, Greg and Jim raised over $1200 for the Movember Canada campaign.

Great job, guys!

In addition to all the people who came out that Friday night, a big “thank you!” has to go out to the businesses that contributed prizes and give-aways. Their generous support really made it a gala event:

The Central Family Restaurant, Stephanie from Venus Hair Supply, Salt & Pepper Meals, Stag Shop, Boston Pizza, Gallagher Napa Auto Parts, Elgin Chrysler, D. R. L. Massage Therapy Clinic, Country Charm Café (seriously, one of my personal faves for breakfast), Family First Tattoos & Piercings, Laser Quest, Bacardi, Grave Before Shave, Uppercut, London Music Hall, C-Pool Minerals Inc., Central Beauty Supply, St. Thomas Roadhouse, Sam Brown, Jay Terry Photography (I know that guy!), Railway City Brewery, Dragonfly Salon & Spa, Can-Rad Beauty Supply, Coca Cola, Monster Energy Drinks, Authentic Wines & Spirits, Milestones Restaurant, and Geerlink’s Home Hardware.

Of course, the biggest thank you has to go out to Greg and Jim. Here’s to selfless acts of charity wrapped in a big, fun party bow. Looking forward to next year’s bash, guys.

Cheers!
